Quentin Tarantino in talks to make Kill Bill: Volume 3
Diehard fans of the over-the-top samurai action flick from Quentin Tarantino will be delighted to know that Kill Bill: Volume 3 may happen. But they also must be wondering (spoilers), hasn't Bill been killed?
That’s not stopping the director from continuing the story of The Bride. In fact, he’s been in talks with star Uma Thurman about it.
“Me and Uma have talked about it recently, frankly, to tell you the truth. I have thought about it a little further. We were talking about it literally last week. If any of my movies were going to spring from my other movies, it would be a third Kill Bill,” Tarantino said, speaking to the Happy Sad Confused podcast.
“Initially I was thinking this would be my “Dollars Trilogy”. I was going to do a new one every ten years,” he added. “But I need at least 15 years before I do this again.”
As for a hint of what the story might be, this time The Bride won’t be the one on the warpath for revenge.
"I’ve already got the whole mythology: Sofie Fatale will get all of Bill’s money," said Tarantino in 2004. "She’ll raise Nikki, who’ll take on The Bride. Nikki deserves her revenge every bit as much as The Bride deserved hers. I might even shoot a couple of scenes for it now so I can get the actresses while they’re this age.”
We’re completely on board, and it’s not unheard of for sequels to happen decades later (think M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass).
It’s all talk for now, so we’ll have a long time to wait. In the meantime, here’s what we’re watching and playing this week.
Speaking of long-awaited sequels/remakes, The Lion King is out right now, and you can check out our review right here.
