The Matrix 4 is officially happening
Let it be known that we called it earlier this year – get ready to head back into the matrix, as The Matrix 4 has been officially announced.
While it has yet to be stated when the high-flying (kick), sci-fi classic’s sequel is scheduled to be released, we do know who will be starring in it.
Both Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will be returning as Trinity and Neo, respectively. Keanu is also set to star in a Bill and Ted sequel, so prepare for a (sweet) nostalgia trip of sorts soon.
There comes a bit of bad news along with it though, as Laurence Fishburne won’t be reprising his role of Morpheus, and may be cast as someone a bit younger. We wonder how that will work.
The new entry will be produced and distributed by Warner Brothers, which will be eager to top up the estimated $1.6 billion the original trilogy grossed at the box office. Lana Wachowski returns to direct, and wrote the film with some help from Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell.
“Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now,” said Wachowski.
“I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends.”
Reeves is also set to play a massive role in the hugely anticipated game Cyberpunk 2077 set to be released in 2020. What isn’t Keanu Reeves in these days?
