There’s been a lot of hype about the new Star Trek movie, Star Trek Beyond, since we reported that the franchise were holding a casting call for extras. But if you missed the auditions don’t worry, you haven’t blown your chance at Hollywood.

Dubai Film and TV Commission (DFTC) are advertising an internship programme, starting on September 13 and ending in October. This coincides with the filming schedule, which will see scenes from Star Trek Beyond filmed in Dubai.

The lucky interns will be involved in pre-production as well as filming, making it even more exciting when the film is released in July 2016.

“We are delighted to be able to offer this exciting opportunity to aspiring filmmakers, who will have the chance to gain international exposure, learn about new aspects of the film industry and earn valuable on-set experience,” said Jamal Al Sharif, Chairman of DFTC. “The interns will also have the chance to be part of a global franchise, engage with renowned industry professionals, and learn about the advanced facilities and infrastructure that Dubai offers as a filming destination.”

Those interested should send their CV and a cover letter to [email protected]. But hurry! The deadline is September 3.

Dubai was announced as a location for the film in July. This is the 13th movie of its kind, however, since the new cast and director took control of the (space)ship in 2009, this is the third release. Directed by Justin Lin, and starring Karl Urban and Zachary Quinto, it’s expected to hit the box office in July next year.

Dubai will play host to various location shoots, while Dubai Studio City is expected to provide technical support. Vancouver has also been announced as a location.

Jamal Al Sharif, chairman of Dubai Film and TV Commission and managing director of Dubai Studio City said: “We are delighted that Dubai has been selected for the filming of this international blockbuster production, particularly to mark their 50th anniversary, and we look forward to welcoming the Star Trek team. Not only will this shine the spotlight on Dubai and the UAE’s excellent locations, infrastructure and flexibility, but it will significantly boost the UAE’s economy, tourism and entertainment sectors.”
