Jake Gyllenhaal confirmed for Dubai International Film Festival
Everest star Jake Gyllenhaal has just been confirmed for Dubai International Film Festival. The 34-year-old actor who has had an incredible year of blockbuster films, will be at the festival to collect Variety’s International Star of the Year Award.
But those of you who won’t be rubbing shoulders with the stars on the red carpet needn’t worry. DIFF are hosting “In Conversation with Jake Gyllenhaal”, which will be a Q&A format open to the public.
Gyllenhaal has recently starred in blockbusters like Everest, alongside Keira Knightley, and Southpaw, with Rachel McAdams. Both went down extremely well with film critics and cinema-goers, showcasing the actors ever-strengthening career. He’s also famous for films such as Nightcrawler and Brokeback Mountain, for which he won a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor as well as being nominated for an Academy Award.
He’s renowned for being dedicated to his craft, making headlines earlier this year for his gruelling Southpaw training regime which included 2,000 sit-ups a day, and two three-hour gym sessions every day of the week. Even when he doesn’t have to tone up he puts in a serious amount of prep – take Nightcrawler for example, where he ran up to 15 miles per day and lived on kale in order to shed weight for his “skeletal” character.
We doubt you’ll be short of questions for Gyllenhaal when he’s in Dubai this December.
