VIDEO: First Star Trek trailer features Dubai

UAE Star Trek fans are in for a real treat – the first trailer for the new film has finally been released, and we get a sneak peek of the Dubai scenes.

There are just two short clips, the first showing a futuristic city that looks eerily abandoned. The second clip is extremely short (honestly, don’t blink for too long or you’ll miss it) but it shows people running through what appears to be DIFC.

We know that much of the Dubai filming was done on location in JLT and DIFC, as well as Studio City, however, we don’t know what role Dubai will have in the film, other than comments to suggest that it’s a city of the future.“We came searching for the future and we found it in Dubai,” said Jeffrey Cernov, Executive Producer of Star Trek Beyond at the film’s press conference in September.

He was joined by Director, Justin Lin, and leading actors Simon Pegg, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, John Cho, Anton Yelchin, Idris Elba and Chris Pine, who added “This is such a stunning city, it’s the future land.”

The second clip in the trailer looks very similar to some filming leaked on Instagram, which shows a crash scene taking shape in DIFC (more on that here).

You’ll have to wait until July 2016 to see the film Trekkies. We hope you can wait that long.
