Catch the last weekend of JLT’s outdoor cinema

It’s slightly surprising the whole outdoor cinema took so long to catch on in Dubai. The clement weather for large chunks of the year would make it ideal for lounging on the grass while watching a classic with food and friends. It’s become a summer staple in places like New York’s Bryant Park.

The new park in JLT, behind Cluster O on the corner of the intersection that they seemed to be building for the best part of five years, has been trying to plug the gap and, on April 24 and 25, will be showing the last two films of the season.

The free screenings a start at 7:30pm, with Fridays dedicated to children’s movies. A variety of food and beverages are available in the park, taking care of munching requirements while watching the films. Remember to bring cushions, mats, blankets and maybe even a beanbag for added comfort.

Kon Tiki
A modern cult classic, this movie recreates the famous Pacific expedition by Norwegian adventurer Thor Heyerdahl (Pål Sverre Hagen) and his five companions to prove that the South Pacific Islands were originally settled by South Americans. After three exhausting months at sea navigating their flimsy balsa-wood raft by the stars and ocean currents, the crew finally achieve their goal.
