What We Do In The Shadows is one of those films that deserved a bigger audience when it came out last year, and certainly a wider release in the blockbuster-centric cinemas of the UAE. Thankfully, Dubai's Scene Club, which hosts bespoke movie nights in the Knowledge Village Conference Centre, will offer it back-to-back screenings on May 26 and 27 - in which one of the stars, Jonathan Brugh, will be in attendance.

In short, it's a sitcom-style comedy about a group of vampires dealing with the tedious realities of suburban life: paying rent, dealing with the neighbours, grappling with new technology. The premise, such that it is, is the flatmates' preparations for an annual The Unholy Masquerade, the big undead event of the year in the New Zealand city of Wellington.

What We Do In The Shadows is the directorial debut of Jemaine Clement, who was one half of the briefly brilliant comiedy music duo, The Flight of the Conchords. Clement also stars as Vladislav in what Empire magazine called "a truly great vampire comedy".
