The Zayed II Military College is one of the oldest and most reputed educational institutions in the UAE and it was founded during the same time as UAE’s establishment. This makes the institution an important relic and part of the great history of the UAE.
The prestigious educational institution celebrated its fiftieth anniversary in January last year and His Highness Sheikh Mohamad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE was the chief guest of the function. During his speech, His Highness observed that the Zayed II military college played a very important role in creating an efficient armed force who are equipped with all the necessary and up-to-date training.
They also produced cadres of different administrative capacities and in various disciplines throughout the 50 years of their existence. The President also said that the UAE administration has made a strategic plan regarding the development of the armed forces and for this purpose, institutions like Zayed II military college will be given top priority. He also mentioned that the importance and purpose of military defense are growing important day by day and the UAE also has to keep itself updated in the military defense sector.
Sheikh Zayed congratulated all the staff of the Zayed II institution and wished them future success in being of service to the nation of UAE and its armed forces. He also wished the 46th batch of cadet officers who passed out during the prestigious occasion. The military college was integral to the strength and stability of the UAE since its inception and this makes the college a very important part of the Emirate nation.
On the prosperous occasion, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai also offered his congratulations and wishes to the great institute. He said that Sheikh Zayed, the founder of the UAE had foreseen the importance of setting up a military force for the safety and stability of the nation, and his efforts were turned into reality by setting up the Zayed II military college.
Also, the wise founder felt that the best way to transform people was to educate them and hence he established military colleges and other educational institutions. Through all these years, the Zayed II college has kept this legacy alive by producing top-quality armed forces who have gotten into vital positions in the UAE defense sector.
As part of continuing the legacy of the Zayed II military college, the Zayed Military University was started in Abu Dhabi in early 2021. It began offering a Bachelor of Science degree in Defense and Security in January 2022.
The course curriculum mainly consists of topics relating to military and security skills that are needed to mold successful armed forces personnel. The graduates who join the course will have to complete an additional year of on-the-field training in their chosen area before completion of their degree.
This university takes the UAE’s purpose-driven projects further as it focuses on providing a larger and more detailed outlook into the military education and related capabilities of the UAE defense sector. The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto made a friendly visit to the University in June last year.
He took a tour of the campus and its classrooms while observing the teaching and learning practices. Subianto was greatly impressed by the level of development observed throughout the military education sector of the UAE and he said that the Emirate nation has taken the right path by investing in an institution like Zayed University.
