UAE calls 2 days off for Martyrs’ Day & National Day
Days off for UAE private sector workers have just been announced to mark Martyrs’ Day and National Day. Saqr Ghobash, The UAE’s Minister of Labour, told The National that employees with have Wednesday December 2 and Thursday December 3 off work, giving most people a four day weekend.
Holiday dates for public sector workers were announced last week, giving many people five days off.

New reports suggest that some UAE residents will have five days holiday from Tuesday December 1 to Saturday December 5, according to Emarat Al Youm. These dates combine UAE Martyr’s Day and National day, and will see ministries and federal authorities closed for five days.
The holiday includes the weekend, so this will mean three days off for many office workers in the public sector, with work resuming on Sunday December 6.
Emirates 24/7 said that The President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan ordered Martyr’s Day to fall on November 30, which will mean that the holiday is observed on Tuesday December 1.
