Donald Trump is all over the news at the moment, and most of the column inches are full of extreme and controversial views. The wannabe US Republican presidential candidate’s latest statements calling for a ban on Muslims entering the United States have caused one of the Middle East’s biggest retailers, Landmark Group, to pull all of its Trump-branded products from the shelves.

Landmark Group, which is based in Dubai, began selling the Trump Home collection in February 2015, putting the American businessman’s range in stores in the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. The group announced yesterday that it will stop selling all Trump products.

“As one of the most popular home decor brands in the Middle East, Lifestyle values and respects the sentiments of all its customers,” Lifestyle CEO Sachin Mundhwa said, in a statement sent to Arabian Business. “In light of the recent statements made by the presidential candidate in the US media, we have suspended sale of all products from the Trump Home décor range.”

If you haven’t seen the headlines yet, this all follows Donald Trump’s call to stop Muslims entering the United States. It’s an extreme view that has shocked people in the US and across the world.

Landmark Group aren’t the only company in Dubai who do business with Trump. Al Tayer, who also sell Trump Home, said that his comments were “unfortunate”, but haven’t mentioned anything about ending the partnership.

In a statement sent to Arabian Business they said, “The statement Mr Trump made on the campaign trail is unfortunate. Given his diverse business interests in the region, we hope that he will reconsider his stand.”

Damac Properties are currently working with Trump to build two golf courses in the city. Their senior vice president, Niall McLoughlin said, “We would like to stress that our agreement is with the Trump Organisation as one of the premium golf course operators in the world and as such we would not comment further on Mr. Trump’s personal or political agenda, nor comment on the internal American political debate scene.”
