Dubai’s Emirates Plans To Boost A380 Flight Services To Hong Kong

Dubai Airlines and Emirates have decided to increase the frequency of their flights to Hong Kong. The Airlines will start daily non-stop services to Hong Kong from Dubai on March 29 and this will lead to an increase of fourteen weekly flights to the Chinese destination.

The current flight goes to Hong Kong via Bangkok and the number of flights will be increased because of the high demand for travel.

Emirates will increase Dubai to Hong Kong flights

The services that start in March will be offering more choice and flexibility to the customers with flights that have high capacity too as the Emirates is ramping up its global operations to meet the increased demand after the post-covid scenario. 

Emirates had decided to resume their renowned A380 flights that were stopped during the Covid pandemic because of the lack of passengers. The Airbus A380 jumbo jet flights are one of the prestige products of Emirates Airlines and they have been around for a long time.

In order to get back to their previous capacity, the airlines will have to employ more aircraft as the demand for international travel has peaked in 2021 and 2022. More and more tourists and job seekers are flying into Dubai as the economy has made a healthy rebound during the post-covid scenario.

While the global economy is facing strong recession risks inflations in major economies like US, Dubai, and UAE in general shows a sharp and steady upward growth in its economy, specifically the non-oil economy that is majorly dependent on the investment and service sectors.

 Already the management at Emirates had decided to bring back the A380s into full operation by the end of 2023 and the new Hong Kong trip update just echoes it. The airlines had initiated a $2 billion investment program for retrofitting its A380 and 777’s cabin interiors and getting them ready for release.

These would offer newer additions like an enhanced economy class called the Premium economy that would offer more legroom and comfort for the passengers within the range of economy pricing. The classic restroom suite also makes its comeback as it was considered to be a unique selling point of luxury for the Emirates A380 flights. Apart from renovating its older aircraft, the airline is also planning for a bigger expansion by taking deliveries of the new twin-aisle Airbus A350 in 2024 and also the Boeing 777x widebody by 2025. 

Codeshare agreements are also there in the pipeline for spreading their business networks in other countries. A deal was signed with United Airlines last September to cooperate and share flights between US and Dubai. Under a codeshare agreement, two airlines get into a deal to market a particular series of flights under their own schedules.

Even though only one airline will be operating the flight, the other company will have the freedom to add the flight to its flight schedules and use it for its own marketing purposes. According to the CCO of Emirates, the airline currently holds around 26 codeshare agreements with multiple airlines around the globe.

An additional labor force of 400 pilots and 6000 cabin crew will also be hired by Dubai airlines towards the middle of this year so that the training facilities will reach the maximum operational capacity. The total labor force will reach 4,500 pilots and 17,500 crew members after these recruitments are completed. 

Emirates has also started offering multiple connectivity options for its customers to various destinations other than Hong Kong. This has been made possible through interline agreements with Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong Airlines, and other airline services. 

Currently, the Emirates has restarted the service of its A380s to around 40 destinations including London Heathrow, Houston, and Sydney.

By the middle of this year, they are planning to increase it to fifty destinations. As part of their commitment towards the recovery of the post-covid scenario in Hong Kong, Emirates had decided to offer non-stop flights between UAE and Hong Kong so that passengers need not halt at Bangkok. This would further benefit a lot of business travelers on the route as Hong Kong is also gearing up for an economic revival.

Even during the pandemic phase, Emirates Airlines had shown consistent support to the local market community by keeping the trade links between Hong Kong and other important markets connected to its trade networks.

This was made possible by the uninterrupted air freight operations led by the cargo division of Emirates, Emirates SkyCargo. As of now, the Emirates EK380 departs from Dubai at !0:45 a.m. and reached Hong Kong by 10 p.m. The return flight EK381 departs from Hong Kong at 12:35 a.m. and arrives in Dubai at 5 a.m. local time.
