Dubai's Private Health Facilities Hit Record 4,482 In 2022

In a major achievement, Dubai has come out as one of the leading destinations for top quality healthcare services. The reason can be traced to a combination of factors and one of them is the enormous increase in the number of private hospitals in the Emirate city in the last five years.

As per the report released by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) for 2022, Dubai has a total of 4,482 private hospitals which is estimated to be a forty-five percent increase from 2018. These hospitals are spread across the city which makes accessibility much easier.

There has been a steep rise in the number of medical tourists too as they are opting for Dubai for its quality medical infrastructure and services. This is also reflected in the number of healthcare professionals joining the medical sector of Dubai as the total number of licensed medical professionals reached 55,208 in 2022.

The progressive and liberal policies of the Dubai leadership have helped the Dubai private health sector

Dr.Marwan Al Mulla, CEO of the Health Regulation Sector at the  DHA said that one of the main reasons for such a humongous growth in the health sector is the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai to make Dubai the number one destination in the world.

The liberal approach towards expanding the economic services by fostering a friendly investment environment; offering easy document processing; providing the state-of-the-art infrastructure; and establishing strategic business partnerships make Dubai an ideal location for the private health sector to grow.

These would provide immense benefits for the residents and visitors as well because the medical facilities and technologies that are used in the Emirate city meet international standards and competency.

Al Mulla also assured that this trend would continue to grow in the coming years as more efforts are being made to enrich the private health sector of the city under the guidance of the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council

As per the estimates of DHA, there will be a projected increase of ten to fifteen percent for healthcare professionals and around three to six percent for the establishment of infrastructure. Currently, the private healthcare sector of Dubai consists of 56 hospitals, 59 diagnostic centers, 21 specialized centers for People of Determination, 57 daycare surgery centers, and  1,566 specialized outpatient clinics.

Apart from these, there are other multiple facilities offered under the private sector like fertility centers, dialysis centers, gastrointestinal endoscopy centers, telehealth centers, optic centers, etc. All these work as a combined and interconnected network to create a highly efficient healthcare management system in the Emirate city.

These facilities offer a wide range of services like advanced diagnostic procedures, surgical procedures, and specialized treatments to the residents and visitors of Dubai. Most of these hospitals are also provided with world-class accreditations from institutions like Joint Commission International (JCI) and the International Organization for Standardisation (ISO).

One of the chief attractions of the Dubai private health sector is its specialized infrastructure services for certain conditions like Cancer, Diabetes, etc. This can be a major reason for the influx of medical tourists visiting Dubai for specialized treatments.

The Dubai Diabetes Center offers full-fledged treatment options for people having diabetes and the Dubai Cancer Center offers multiple specialized treatment options for Cancer patients. There are several medical research facilities also throughout the city like the Dubai Genomics Center that conducts advanced studies on genetics and personalized medicine.
