Eid Al Fitr 2023 In UAE Is Expected To Fall on April 21

As the month of Ramadan approaches the last phase of the holy month, the people of UAE are all set to welcome Eid Al Fitr 2023. According to the information from the International Astronomical Centre, it is expected that the first day of Eid Al Fitr will be on Friday, the 21^st of April in most Islamic countries. The people of the UAE are hoping to get a long weekend of four days if Eid Al Fitr falls on the expected date.

Islamic countries expect to sight the crescent of Shawwal by the 20^th of April, Thursday

The International Astronomical Centre announced that the crescent of Shawwal is expected to sight on Thursday, April 20 in most Islamic countries. The crescent of Shawwal may not be seen on that day with naked eyes or through a telescope from Australia and Asia, but it may be visible from some parts of the Islamic world, they said. 

They further added that under such circumstances the majority of the Islamic nations may declare the beginning of the month on the following day, and it is expected that many countries will declare, April 21, Friday, as the first day of Eid Al Fitr 2023. The exact date will be declared upon sighting the moon close to the day by the Moon sighting committee. 

Eid Al Fitr is a celebration that puts an end to a month-long period of fasting and spiritual meditation for Muslims all around the world. It is decided by the sighting of the crescent moon which will be announced by the Moon sighting committee officially. The day of Eid Al Fitr is normally observed as a public holiday in the UAE, which begins at the end of Ramadan, the holy month. 

The government of the UAE has announced holidays for federal government employees and depending on the sighting of the moon the employees in the public sector are expecting to get a long weekend of four or five days.

According to the information from the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) of the UAE, the Eid Al Fitr 2023 holidays will commence on the 29 of Ramadan and will last up to the Shawwal 3. The official announcement of the day of Eid Al Fitr will be given by the committee which will be convening on the 29^th night of Ramadan. 

The calculations from the Astronomical Centre point that the holy month of Ramadan is most likely to last for 29 days, which is expected to end on Thursday, April 20. In such case, it is expected that the leave will start from April 20 and will last up to April 23. 

For Muslims in the UAE and all over the world, Eid Al Fitr is a day to celebrate, which comes after a month of fasting. People normally celebrate Eid Al Fitr with prayers, charity, and family gets together, and by sending wishes, love, and gifts to dear and near ones. 

It is also the time for the people of the UAE to take a break from their stressful life, as the government will announce it as a public holiday. People will enjoy having a feast, buying new clothes, giving to charity, and will have some quality time with family and relatives. Many find it a time to take short travels so as relax from the busy schedules of life. 

Ramadan is the holy month, the ninth month according to the Islamic Calendar. It consists of only 354 days, an 11 days difference from the Georgian Calendar. The month of Ramadan begins with the sighting of the new crescent moon and can last up to 29 to 30 days depending on the sighting of the next crescent moon.

The official announcement of the commencement of Ramadan will be given by the Moon sighting committee, which is based in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

During the month of Ramadan, Muslims are advised to refrain from eating and drinking from morning till dusk.
