France Football Player Mamadou Sakho Wins the Sports Footprint Award In Dubai

The French International Soccer player Mamadou Sakho receives the Sports Footprint Award from the Chairman of Dubai Media Corporation, Sheikh Hasher Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum. He received the honor as a recognition of his efforts taken by him to support the deprived.

The ceremony was held in Dubai in the presence of Dubai’s distinguished personalities like Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and the Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai. 

The ceremony was held to honour the champions of the Watani Al Emarat Award for Humanitarian Work

Mamadou Sakho is the founder of the “Amsak Donation”, an initiative taken towards charity. He was given the honor to commemorate the initiatives taken by him to provide support to charitable institutions like the “Noor Dubai” Foundation and also for the construction of stadiums in Africa. The award ceremony was held as a part of honoring the Watani Al Emarat Award for Humanitarian Work’s tenth edition winners. 

He has been playing for various French national teams and for more than ten European Football clubs like Paris Saint – Germain and Liverpool. He first appeared for a national team when he was under the age of 16 years old. From then onwards he has been receiving appreciation and respect from the people. Upon honouring him with the award, the Sports Council of Dubai congratulated him for receiving the award. 

The recognition has been given to him as a result of what he has been doing both as a player and as a human being to support his fellow beings. He launched the “Amsak Donation” as a means to support those deprived in the field of sports. He made use of his fame to collect money for charity projects. He utilized his relationship with international players and other public groups to support such foundations thereby setting an example for other players and celebrities to follow. 

In honouring Mamadou Sakho, the Sports Council of Dubai appreciated the initiative of the Sakho Foundation. The foundation has always followed the values like providing for those in need, be it children or other fellow beings. The Council said that the Sports Footprint Awards also stands for such humanitarian values.  They affirmed that with all the contributions made by the star and his foundation Mamadou Sakho is well deserved to win this fourth edition of the award. 

He is the first international star from the sports field to receive this achievement as a recognition of his contributions like campaigns to raise funds for charity organizations. Besides he has organized various auctions to donate money by selling items collected from celebrities. In November 2022, the “Amsak Donation” organized an exhibition match that witnessed the presence of several top players and stars in the sports field.  

The charity auction organized by him was attended by several international football players. The auction saw the sale of items from these international stars and the amount thus generated was handed over to the Noor Dubai Foundation. This amount was used to provide treatment for the needy in Africa. 

The contributions made by Mamadou Sakho are indeed a great motivation for all the people and the Council also advised the players of the UAE to follow his path of supporting and providing for those in need.

On receiving the award Sakho said that, all our lives are only for once and that we should try to make a better contribution that will be remembered even after our death. He also expressed his happiness and pride to receive the award that highlights the values like giving and providing for those in need. He further added that, if one lives a decent life it is only because of god’s grace up on him or her and we should not forget to give it back by supporting those in need. 

 He said that, on one of his visits to the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex, and the follow-up made by him to the Nas Sports Tournament’s events like the International Padel Championship and the Volleyball Championship, he expressed his willingness to cooperate with initiatives taken by the organizations in Dubai to support those in need.

Sakho added that he has been visiting Dubai several times a year and it feels like a second home to him. It also gives him immense pleasure to meet the various members of the community and spend time with them. 

He announced that he plans to live in Dubai in the coming future as the city has always provided him with enough support and courage to carry out his charity initiatives. He has been using the revenue made from such initiatives to support those in need in Africa and whole over the world. 

The Sports Footprint Award was organized in connection with the Watani Al Emarat Foundation and the Dubai Sports Council. It aims to propagate the humanitarian culture and to support the initiatives taken to support the sports field by providing them with all the requirements to strengthen the community. 

The Sports Footprint Award got added to the Watani Al Emarat Humanitarian Work from its seventh edition onwards. It was added under the slogan “Unlimited Capabilities” and invited individuals and institutions from the sports community to take part in the award.

The first edition of the award was given to the “Landmark” group as a recognition of the initiatives taken by the group to create awareness about the need for physical activities and exercise among the public.
