French President Honours Dubai Police Chief With National Order Of Merit

Emmanuel Macron, President of France, has bestowed upon the National Order of Merit recognition to Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, who is the current Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police. Lt. Gen. Al-Marri was given recognition for his remarkable contributions that focused on bolstering the relationship between the United Arab Emirates and France in the fields of security as well as policing.

The National Order of Merit is the second highest national order in France, after the Legion of Honor. The purpose of the award is to recognize individuals from all around the world who have demonstrated superior efforts and also have made significant levels of contributions in the respective fields in which they are functioning.

The National Order of Merit was first presented following World War II and was rewarded to General Charles de Gaulle, who led the French forces against the German Nazi army during the war.

The recognition was awarded to Lt. Gen. Al Marri by Nicolas Niemtchinow, the French Ambassador to the UAE on behalf of the French President. The award ceremony happened during the ongoing World Police Summit 2023 which is currently ongoing in Dubai.

During his speech following the awarding ceremony, Niemtchinow expressed that the National Order of Merit was awarded to Al Marri was a form of appreciation that recognizes the efforts and commitment he put forward to ensure that there exists a sustainable, growing, and strong partnership between the United Arab Emirates and France.

His efforts have played a very major role in ensuring that the combined efforts by both the friendly countries in the fields of security and policing stay strong.

Ambassador Niemtchinow also said that the efforts put in place by Al Marri to effectively fight and reduce organized crime have also ensured that the security of communities in both France and the United Arab Emirates is always on an enhanced level.

Niemtchinow further added that the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, decided to bestow upon the National Order of Merit to Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Dubai Police Commander-in-Chief, to recognize his efforts that have been pivotal in the ongoing cooperation and commitment between the Dubai Police and French authorities, both in terms of technical cooperation and operational relationship.

Concluding his speech, Niemtchinow stated that as the ambassador of France to the United Arab Emirates, he considers the opportunity to award the National Order to Merit to Lt. Gen. Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri as a great honor and that he also wishes to convey the gratitude that France has for Lt. Gen. Al Marri in the form of this recognition.

After receiving his prestigious award, Lt. Gen. Al Marri took the opportunity to express his deep level of appreciation and gratitude to the French President as well as the Republic of France for offering him the National Order of Merit award.

Al Marri also took the opportunity to reaffirm the commitment of the Dubai Police force, operating under the guidance of the United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Interior, to ensure that a strong level of partnership and cooperation exists between the various regions as well as international agencies to combat the issues faced due to internationally coordinated crime activities.

He also reiterated the commitment to ensure that global security exists everywhere in the world, which in turn helps to enhance the security of societies living all around the globe.

The World Police Summit 2023, during which the prestigious award was bestowed upon Lt. Gen. Al Marri, is considered to be a premier event that brings together law enforcement, security, and policing agencies from all across the globe together under one single roof.

The latest iteration of the summit, which is in its second edition currently, was inaugurated yesterday on March 07, 2023, by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Dubai Crown Prince and the Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.

The World Police Summit is held under the patronage and guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates.

This year, there are law enforcement agencies from 50 countries around the world participating in the summit and during the entirety of the summit, there will be six conferences on various subjects.

There is also an exhibition that is conducted alongside the World Police Summit 2023. During the exhibition, the latest technologies, services, and products that are beneficial to prevent cybercrimes, forecast security threat levels, implement efficient insurance and surveillance projects and enhance the effectiveness of smart cities, etc. are showcased.

There is also an Experts Hub platform that is conducted on the sidelines of the summit, wherein experts in the field of security join to discuss the latest challenges and trends that are present in the sector.
