The Arab Parliament for Child Rights (APC) is a regional parliamentary body dedicated to promoting children’s rights and well-being in the Arab world. It was established in 2014 by the Arab League and has its headquarters in Egypt.

The APC is composed of elected representatives from Arab League member countries, as well as representatives from civil society groups and international organizations working on child rights issues in the Arab world.

Its primary objectives are to advocate for children’s rights, monitor and evaluate the implementation of relevant laws and policies and encourage cooperation and collaboration among member states and other stakeholders in order to advance child rights.

The APC is particularly concerned with child protection, education, health, and social and economic development. It also works to address the unique challenges that vulnerable groups of children face, such as refugees, disabled children, and children affected by conflict.

The work of the APC is guided by international child rights conventions and treaties, such as the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. It also collaborates closely with other regional and international organizations dedicated to the advancement of children’s rights.

The APC operates under the auspices of the Arab League, a regional organization of Arab countries. Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen are among the 22 member states of the Arab League.

The APC is formed of 100 members, including 80 elected representatives from member countries, 10 civil society organizations, and 10 international institutions. The members are selected for a four-year term.

The members of the APC elect a President, a First Vice-President, and a Second Vice-President. They are responsible for overseeing the work of the APC and ensuring that its objectives and goals are achieved.

The APC holds regular sessions and meetings to discuss and address child rights issues. These sessions allow members to exchange ideas, share best practices, and develop strategies and plans to advance child rights in the Arab region.

APC has several committees that focus on specific child rights issues, such as education, health, child protection, and social and economic development. These committees are in charge of conducting research, formulating policy recommendations, and providing technical assistance to member countries.

The Arab Parliament for Child Rights (APC) works closely with several regional and global organizations, including the International Labour Organization (ILO), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the United Nations Children’s Fund, to promote child rights (UNICEF).

The Arab Child-Friendly Cities Initiative, which aims to create safe and nurturing environments for children in urban areas, is one of the APC’s initiatives and programs aimed at advancing child rights in the Arab region.
