Despite the victory, Auger-Aliassime admitted that he would have preferred a more straightforward win, but he also recognized the importance of being tested by his opponent in the early stages of the tournament.

The Canadian player will now face Italy’s Lorenzo Sonego in the second round, hoping to build on his victory over Cressy and maintain his good form in Dubai.
