Talabat, the leading regional food delivery platform has started its new tech headquarters at Dubai’s City Walk with a working capacity of over 2000 employees. The new headquarter located at one of Dubai’s sought-after luxury shopping and dining destinations was inaugurated by Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council.

Talabat, like Zomato, is one of the biggest food delivery platforms that is spread across nine regional markets UAE, Bahrain, Iraq, Egypt, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan.

Apart from food delivery, Talabat is also involved in numerous charity endeavors inside and outside UAE

The new state-of-the-art headquarters employs four hundred developers and engineers and is one of the largest tech hubs in the area. It is spread across a massive 100,000 square feet and the HQ has been designed according to the new sustainability standards in Dubai.

Some of the key features of sustainable additions to the headquarters include the use of LED lighting, a low-consumption water system, the utilization of natural light through open windows, and reducing the overall environmental impact in the construction of the building.

The HQ also aligns itself with the D33 vision of the Dubai administration that focuses on developing the Dubai economy as one of the fastest-growing and investment-friendly business centers of the world.

Sheikh Mansoor said that Dubai is committed to creating a robust environment for new businesses and investments as it aims to attain wider economic growth in the next ten years. For the expansion towards a non-oil economy, the Emirate city is pinning its goal on developing the necessary infrastructure and resources to support entrepreneurs and companies.

Post-covid, there has been immense growth and demand in the digital sector and this would also provide a new branch of economic growth for Dubai as a global hub. Sheikh Mansoor also said that the Dubai administration is putting its efforts to produce and nurture innovation, creativity, and specialized skills in different economic sectors.

Tomaso Rodriguez, CEO of Talabat, thanked Dubai city for its continuous trust and support in the platform and especially the encouragement was given by the administration to the technological sector.

He said that the new HQ is a symbol of the continuing commitment towards the emirate city and also part of the efforts to bring in talented techies to the region. Rodriguez had all praise for their team of developers and engineers whom he considers the head and heart of the company.

The team of Talabat hopes to create over a hundred new tech positions and more than half of them will be from the tech HQ at City Walk.

The initial decision to move into a new headquarters at City Walk was announced in February last year. A deal was also signed with Merex Investments to convert two existing retail buildings into office space for Talabat.

Shahram Shamsaee, CEO of Merex Investment Group said that the main focus of Merex has always been to provide ideal and innovative business spaces for companies to expand and nurture their growth. This is also seen as a long-term investment for the transformation of Dubai into a global business hub capable of handling all kinds of resident, tourist, or business concerns.

The first building of the headquarters is located next to La Ville Hotel between  Al Safa street and  Al Multaqa street. The second part of the HQ is right opposite The Square and offers a great view of Burj Khalifa, City Walk Fountain, and Downtown Skyline. These two parts are connected through the City Walk’s indoor mall.
