The Rasal Al Khaimah Police Arrested A Hit-and-run Driver Within A Few Hours

The Ras Al Khaimah Police arrested a 26-year-old truck driver who killed an Arab man in an accident at Ras Al Khaimah on Saturday.

The suspect who caused the death of an Arab was located and arrested by the police within four hours of the incident that took place on Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road.

The General Command of the Ras Al Khaimah Police, who is in charge of the Investigation and Traffic Control Department, succeeded in arresting the Asian truck driver who drove over an Arab man on Saturday morning.

The suspect, who had driven away in the direction of another emirate, was located with the help of the surveillance cameras.

Mapping the route

The director of the Ras Al Khaimah Police Traffic and Patrol Department, Major Ahmed Al Sam Al Naqbi, stated that the accident took place on Saturday at 3.55 a.m.

The control room of the Traffic and Patrol Department received a report of a truck hitting a person on Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road. It was also reported that the driver who caused the incident had fled the scene.

Major reported that the national ambulance service and police patrols hurried off to the accident scene as soon as they received the information.

But before the team could reach the spot, the victim had succumbed to death. Soon after the arrival of the police and ambulance, arrangements were made quickly to take the body of the deceased man to the hospital.

It was found that the dead man, who had parked his car on the side of the road, had only gotten out. It was the truck driver who approached carelessly and hit the car, ran over the man, and caused his death. Shortly after the incident took place, the truck driver who caused the incident escaped from the scene.

Soon after transporting the deceased man’s body, a specialized team was formed to investigate the accident.

The team thus formed started their investigation, and a search for the suspect was launched. The team made use of the surveillance cameras positioned along the street for their investigation.

Ras Al Khaimah Police Traffic and Patrol Department Director, Al Naqbi, said that the investigation team located the truck that caused the accident at a site in Sharjah with the help of the street cameras.

In order to execute the arrest of the suspect, the Sharjah Police General Command and the Ras Al Khaimah Police worked together. After that, the truck driver was reported to the appropriate authorities for legal action.

Ras Al Khaimah Police said that according to Federal Traffic Rules, escaping the scene of an accident is a crime that is subject to legal punishment.

The General Command also encouraged the people of the country to report any traffic accident as soon as possible.

He also ensured that the Traffic Police and Patrol Department possessed the technical and human resources required to identify the person responsible. To prevent similar accidents from happening again in the future, the police asked drivers to be cautious while driving, especially in residential areas.
