UAE Fatwa Council Clarifies Sharia Ruling On Celebrating Hag Al Leila In UAE

The Emirates Council for Legal Fatwa recently issued a statement allowing children to celebrate the night of the middle of Sha’ban, also known as “the right of the night.” The council clarified that there is no issue with Sharia law when it comes to children participating in this celebration and going out in society in their usual way.

The council stated in a tweet on its official Twitter account that there is no legal prohibition on children celebrating the night of the middle of Sha’ban and engaging in customary practices that bring them joy. Furthermore, the council clarified that giving children gifts such as sweets to enhance their enjoyment during the celebration is permissible.

However, the council emphasized that this permissibility only applies to customary practices that are not prohibited by true Sharia law. The council explained that if a particular practice is expressly prohibited by Sharia law, it cannot be included in the celebration.

The council also stated that the origin of these customary practices is permissible as long as they do not contradict any Islamic principles or teachings. As a result, the council encourages parents and guardians to allow their children to participate in this celebration as long as they do so respectfully and appropriately.

According to the statement issued by the Emirates Council for Legal Fatwa, it is permissible for children to celebrate the night of the middle of Sha’ban and engage in customary practices that bring them happiness, as long as those practices do not violate any Sharia law principles or teachings. Parents and guardians are also encouraged to allow their children to participate in a respectful and appropriate manner.

The night of the middle of Sha’ban is considered one of the virtuous nights in Islam, during which Allah bestows pardon and forgiveness upon his servants, according to the Fatwa Council.
