UAE Health Authorities Announce Integration Between ‘Riayati’, ‘Malaffi’, And ‘Nabidh’

On the occasion of the Arab Health 2023 forum in Dubai, the health authorities of the UAE including the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Department of Health- Abu Dhabi (DoH), and Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) announced the integration of Riayati, Malaffi, Nabidh and the National Unified Medical Record (NUMR) platforms. 

According to Ahmed Ali Al Dashti, an assistant undersecretary for the Support Services Sector, MoHAP, the integration of the healthcare platforms is a great achievement for the UAE health sector as it will help in making better decisions depending on the requirements of the patients and their medical records. It will also create an overall better healthcare experience for the citizens and residents of the UAE. 

The Unified National Health Platform will be a model system that will make healthcare management fast

Dr.Hamed Ali Al Hashemi, advisor to the chairman of DoH observed that the integration of the three health platforms in the UAE would lead towards a more enhanced community health and overall safety of the patients.

This step will also put UAE as a model nation for exchanging its health information through interconnected platforms and this will support the regional health systems. Al Hashemi went on to explain that data plays a major role in making better and timely decisions for a healthcare expert and this information will assist in creating better programs, initiatives, and policies relating to the overall health improvements of the community. It will also be an assistive force in establishing the UAE as a leader in digital health systems.   

Ali Al Ajmi, the Director of the Digital Health Department, MoHAP also noted that the Unified National Health Platforms would enable a radical shift in the UAE’s healthcare sector as it uses standardized encryption technologies to secure the health records of the patients.

This network would be completely safe and the relevant information can be accessed only by authorized personnel like doctors or other related experts. These records will also be accessible across multiple facilities so that the related doctor or expert can access them without depending on a third-party system. 

The Riayati platform has already seen a significant increase in medical records after the integration of the other three platforms. This will come up to an approximate total of 1.9 billion medical records for 9.5 million patients and this whole database can be accessed by more than nine thousand healthcare providers in 3,057 medical facilities.

Al Ajmi also compliments the efforts of the private sector in the success of this new initiative. Their participation in this venture is of great importance and with the help of the private sector the project can scale new heights providing services of international standards. 

Dr.Mohammad Al Redha, the Director of the Health Data and Information Analysis Department at Dubai Health Authority remarked that the integration of the platforms could be successfully completed because of the continuous coordination and high-level engagement between DHA, MoHAP and DoH. Without their consistent and aligned efforts, such a complex feat wouldn’t have been possible. 

Robert Denson, Acting CEO of Abu Dhabi Health Data Services (Malaffi) said that the integration of the platforms signifies the leap of the UAE healthcare system to a new national accomplishment by following the larger objective of delivering high-quality health services to its citizens and residents. The integration should be seen as a continuation of these efforts to make healthcare more accessible and transparent through the digital medium.

One of the main highlights of this initiative is that doctors and health experts can access the patient’s health information in a split second through the dedicated servers. Malaffi was one of the first Health information exchange platforms (HIE) of the region and DoH has made an announcement that all the private and public hospitals in the emirate will now be part of the integrated platform. 

With this integration in place, residents of the UAE can now avail of health checkups and treatments according to their accessibility to the desired medical facilities. The medical records from one hospital can now be accessed and updated in another without the need for manually moving them. This will cut down a lot of time wastage and difficulties in continuing the treatment of a patient. 

According to the MoHAP, the ultimate goal of these new initiatives and strategies is to align with the vision of the wise leadership of the UAE to position the nation as one of the pioneering economies for advanced healthcare and data management. It will also help in strengthening cooperation and mutual trust among the different sectors of the Emirate nation. 

The Arab Health 2023 forum was held for the healthcare professionals of the Middle East and North African Region (MENA) and the ministry showcased the latest technologies, innovations, and programs in the healthcare sector that will be assistive in enhancing the healthcare service of the Emirate Nation.
