UAE Participates In Meeting Of G20’s TIWG In Mumbai

Participating in a meeting of the Trade and Investment Working Group (TIWG) of the G20, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was present on the 31st of March 2023. The event was held in Mumbai, India, between the 28th the 30th of March 2023, during India’s presidency of the G20.

Juma Al Keet, the Assistant Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Economy for International Trade Affairs, led the UAE’s delegation at the meeting.

During the discussions, Juma Al Keet conveyed the UAE’s vision regarding various important issues concerning related to global trade and investment development.

He also highlighted the country’s efforts and initiatives aimed at rapidly increasing trade growth and facilitating trade movement.

Juma Al Keet, the Assistant Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Economy for International Trade Affairs, discussed several important topics related to global trade and investment development during the Trade and Investment Working Group (TIWG) meeting of the G20 held in India.

One of his key main points was the importance of international partnerships and cooperation in promoting economic growth. He emphasized that collaboration among countries is essential to support global value chains, which are necessary for the growth and development of international trade.

Juma Al Keet also highlighted the importance of providing assistance and support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as they are essential contributors to the growth of the worldwide economy.  It is mandatory to boost the SME trading system in all sectors so that each country can generate great opportunities for its citizens.

Furthermore, he also emphasized there’s a dire need for a strong and productive logistics system to facilitate trade system globally.

Juma Al Keet acknowledged that a stronger and more efficient logistics system can reduce the time and cost involved in transporting goods, leading to greater trade.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is presently attending the G20 meeting, which is an important platform for international economic cooperation and decision-making, which is a crucial event in the country’s calendar.

In recent years UAE heavily invested in sustainable development and the transition to renewable energy, the UAE’s participation in COP28 is crucial to its commitment and dedication to tackling the global challenge of climate change. As the UAE works to become more environmentally friendly and to adopt long-term development goals.

Including participating in COP28, the UAE is also preparing to host the World Investment Forum which is mainly organized by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Investment (UNCTAD).

This forum brings investors, policymakers, and experts together to discuss current investment trends and explore opportunities for sustainable development.

Besides that, the UAE is going to host the 13th ministerial meeting of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2024.
