UAE is ever grateful for its former president Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the anniversary of his death. It has been a year now and the people of UAE remember him as a true leader and an embodiment of wisdom and dedication.

UAE’s Second President, With 18 Years of exemplary leadership

Sheikh Khalifa bin Sultan Al Nahyan served as the second president of the United Arab Emirates and the ruler of Abu Dhabi. He served from the 4th of November 2004 after the passing away of his father, until his death on the 13th of May 2022.

UAE became the second-largest economy in the Arabian region and also the first Arab and Islam nation to reach Mars, amongst many other remarkable achievements in various fields. UAE spent over 320 billion AED for foreign aid assisting more than 155 countries from its established period in 1971 to 2021.

He was an ardent ruler who worked tediously towards the prosperity of the nation, on the very strong foundations that the founding fathers of UAE had built. It was a new dawn of transformation for the UAE since his leadership in the sectors of infrastructure, education, healthcare, and technology.

The nation developed into a global hub for business and commerce, which attracted investors from around the world and climbed up the ladder of being the top position in the global economy.

The late king was also a role model in advocating for social justice and equality. He was committed to his mission of enhancing the welfare of people. He also introduced various initiatives which target empowering the youth of the Emirates, aiding with promoting gender equality and distributing equal opportunities for all segments of the society.

People still remember this leader not only for his unwavering dedication towards the nation and its people but also for his humility and humble aura that made him one of the people’s favorites. He did not have to think twice about welcoming people from diverse nationalities into the country and integrated a sense of mutual respect and inclusivity transforming their country into a land of opportunities for all.

As the visionary leader he is, Sheikh Khalifa launched various initiatives like Principles of the 50, the UAE Vision 2021, the UAE Net Zero by 50 initiative, the Digital Government Strategy 2025, the National Food Security Strategy 2030, the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence, the National Space Strategy the UAE Government Service Strategy 2021-2025, in addition to the Energy Strategy 2050.

 He was the eldest son of Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan. This ruler attracted various cultural and academic institutions to Abu Dhabi and as a result established various schools like Louvre Abu Dhabi, New York University Abu Dhabi, and Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi.

The second largest airline in the UAE was established by him too. The World’s tallest buildings were named after him as an honor. He was also mentioned in the Forbes List of most powerful people in the world 2018 edition.
