Plot Of The Series
ABC network has stated that the series focuses on the life of a self-described disaster Nell (Gina Rodriguez), who decides to restart her life and career which she left behind 10 years ago. Nell has just broken off a long-term engagement and is moving back to her home town Pasadena. She quits her successful writing career to help her ex-fiance start a restaurant.
In her hometown, she is surrounded by her old friends who are leading happily married lives, which makes her life feel messier. Finally, she finds a job writing obituaries in a local newspaper. She is not satisfied with her current life situation, which triggers a strange ability in her to see ghosts. Nell starts getting life advice from an unlikely source.
The series hopes to highlight themes including friendship and sisterhood. The series widely uses dry humor in every aspect of the story.
The series is adapted from the book confessions of a 40 – something F**K UP by Alexandra Potter. Throughout the series, we can find Nell(Gina Rodriguez) navigating her new talent along with her career, sharing the apartment with a stranger, and reuniting with her close friends from the past.
The series will surely be a fun roller coaster ride.
