Qube Sports Bar
There is an awful lot to get stuck into at Qube in the Meydan Hotel this summer – making the drive out to Nad Al Sheba totally worth it. For regular punters, there is a daily happy hour between 8pm and 10pm (not during matches), there are 16 screens and four cube screens in the bar area, a match-by-match fantasy game and a penalty shootout, with hotel, food, drink and golf prizes all up for grabs.
On the upper level, special packages can be booked by the match: groups of up to six can get 24 drinks for the price of 12, unlimited soft drinks and finger bites all for AED900. For up to eight guests, you can double the drinks and food for AED1,750. You’ll also have your own dedicated team looking after you.

Ramadan-ization
This exhibition at DUCTAC features the work of artists reflecting on their own memories and experiences of Ramadan. Set against the increasing commercialisation of the Holy Month, these personal and artistic re-interpretations highlight many shared experiences, from TV series, iftars and personal behaviour. Curated by Muhanad Ali, the exhibition features works from Ahmed Bouhoulaigah, Fatima Albudoor, Amal Al Khaja, Sara Al Haddad, Jumairy, Khalid Mezaina and Salama Nasib, Dina Saadi, Safwan Subzwari and Walid Al Wawi.

Visions of Islam
This Ramadan exhibition will display two dozen Islamic artworks by eight artists who comprise art instructors and prize-winning members from the Dubai International Art Centre. They works capture many different styles, from watercolours to modern abstract works.

Lady Fuzion Bazaar
Another bazaar that has been going for a while is this one from Lady Fuzion, the fashion-based networking group. This is the seventh Ramadan bazaar and will feature some of the most notable textile designers in the UAE in a friendly, sociable environment.

Hareem Al Sultan Exhibition
There’s plenty of time to see this long-running exhibition, which doesn’t close until the end of the year. Offering a look back in history to the Ottoman era, the exhibition shows the glamourous Topkapi Palace and the Sultan’s Hareem in the Turkish Ottoman, looking at home décor, jewellery and costumes. You’ll even be able to smell the real scents which would have filled the palace’s rooms.

Cinema – Don’t Grow Up (15)
A horror-thriller yarn in the 28 Days Later or perhaps Saoirse Ronan-vehicle How I Live Now genre, this UK-French film directed by Thierry Poiraud centres on a group of British teenagers who abscond from their carehome hoping for some al fresco freedom. As they wander around the nearby town, though, they soon realise that the adults are being turned into crazed, murderous maniacs by a strange disease. What follows is a fight for survival – interlaced with plenty of Dawson’s Creek adolescent angst.
