On Wednesday, 25th of April the Ministry of Human Resources to the employers of the private sector who have 50 employees working in their enterprises, that the deadline for the half-yearly Emiratisation is 30th of June 2023. For the first half of the year, the target is set at 1 percent. Non-compliant companies will be facing penalty charges for not achieving their required half-yearly target as well as the yearly target for 2022.
New mechanisms ensure year-round employment opportunities for the emiratis
The acting Undersecretary for Emiratisation Affairs and Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Affairs, Aisha Belharfia stressed the significance of companies attaining their half-yearly Emiratisation target rise to avoid fines. She reminded the companies working in the private sector about the support given by the Nafis.
The Nafis initiative was introduced on the 13th of September 2021 to increase the number of Emirati talents in the private sector. The word Nafis translates “to compete” in Arabic.
She said that the private sector is an active partner in improving the attractiveness and competitiveness of the employment market, parallel with the vision of making the United Arab Emirates a dynamic economic hub that is a part of the most sustainable and rapidly growing global scale.
The victory of Emiratisation efforts depends on 2 factors. The first one is the expansion of the job vacancies available for Emirati talents in the private sector and the second will be by developing a secure network that assists their career paths, stated Aisha Belharfia.
The companies will be offered a chance to become a part of the Tawteen Partners Club, which boosts the ranking to Category 1 and gives the companies a discount of up to Eighty percent on the fees of the Ministry.
Fine for the amount of AED 42,000 will be forced upon the targetted companies for every Emirati not hired, at a rate of 7,000 AED each month for the year 2023, according to the Cabinet decision. These specified fines will be increasing by AED 1,000 every year until 2026.
These facts come in line with amendments of some of the provisions in the cabinet resolution No. (19/5 m) of 2022, concerning the mechanism of achieving yearly Emiratisation increase targets.
The Cabinet Resolution No. (19/5 m) of 2022 elucidates that the companies that are registered with the Ministry and are offering employment to more than fifty workers, will add employees who are Emirates to their company, with a target set on increasing their current Emiratisation rate from the skilled jobs by 2 percent every year raising the numbers gradually reaching the goal of 10 percent by 2060
Ayisha Behlafria is hopeful about the employment goal the nation will achieve with this implementation. She added that they are looking forward to the results of these new mechanisms that will make sure of year-round and continuous employment for the Emiratis. This mechanism will maintain job opportunities and vacancies on the Nafis platform all throughout the year, which matches the pace of job seekers’ registrations.
