UAE plans for TEN food truck locations

If you’ve driven between Dubai and Abu Dhabi lately you’ll have seen the long queue of cars lining up to grab some posh roadside fast-food from one of Last Exit’s many food trucks. Meraas, the Dubai-based company behind the project, announced today that it is expanding the food truck concept to a further nine destinations!

Each one of the locations will have a unique theme and a range of services that aims to promote tourism between the emirates. Including Last Exit, which has proven to be a huge success since its opening in July, this will mean a total of ten food truck destinations leading in and out of Dubai.

The locations will have between 20 to 40 trucks, which will serve people 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Destinations have already been decided, and include an additional park on Sheikh Zayed Road, across from the first project, two on Al Ain Road, one at Hatte, one at Al Khawaneej, one at Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, two on Emirates Road and one at Al Qudra Road.

As well as being a great place to stop for a snack, all ten locations will include other activations. We can expect the likes of open air cinemas, business centres and spaces for walking and exercising.

His Excellency Abdulla Al Habbai, Group Chairman, Meraas said: “Last Exit was conceived in-line with Dubai’s tourism vision and our ongoing commitment to provide innovative experiences across the emirate. Therefore, we sought, under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, to expand on Last Exit   to cover key roads leading in and out of Dubai, and offering residents and visitors who use these roads the highest standards of services, with a special focus on families and tourists.”

Al Habbai added: “These 10 locations will be the first of several stages to follow, with the aim of promoting similar  upscale destinations in different areas across Dubai. Works will begin once the required licencing procedures are finalised, and the new destinations  will be completed in stages over the coming six months.”
