Couqley
It’s time to ease ourselves back into the serious business of late afternoon/early evening indulgences, the kind that you deserve if you’re sticking around for the summer. One of the better places to do it might be the French bistro Couqley in Jumeirah Lakes Towers, which has just launched a new Apero Menu for its twice-nightly happy hours – which run from 4pm-8pm and again from 11pm-1am.
In addition to the range of house beverages and mixes, there is a menu of amuse-bouches over which friends and colleagues can graze should they manage to escape work early enough. They include the likes of mini soupe du jour, mini burgers and poêlée de champignons – all of which range between AED9 and AED39. But perhaps our favourite is the pretty-as-a-picture tartare de thon, shown off here.
Crafted by head chef Alexis Couquelet, it is a carnival of light, summer flavours, from the fresh tuna to the spring onions, chives and fried leeks.
Who’s up for leaving work a little earlier? How about staying a little late? This might be just the place to be this summer.

THE DEK on 8
Friday brunch is back at the poolside Dek on 8 for the summer – only it will take place in the evenings between 7pm and 10pm. The rebranded “sunset brunch” will offer sharing trays of sushi, fresh grills, salads and desserts, and also includes a towel, pool access and entertainment from a DJ. Beverages will be unlimited, too. And all for AED250.

Babaji Dubai
A traditional take on Turkish breakfast is what awaits you at the latest restaurant to pay homage to the cuisine of the Bosphorus – and also the latest addition to the almost impossibly broad array of dining options in City Walk. Feast on fried eggs and slow-cooked lamb, or try the patatesli yumurta, a tasty combination of baked eggs and potato. Served daily from 8am onwards.
