The good old business lunch. A time where the serious and the not so serious folk among us take roughly 45 minutes out of their schedule to energise their body and distract themselves from the work that lies ahead – the scenario usually involves three to four people gathered around an arty table, not talking to each other but very much in tune with their company (the joys of social media, ey?)

Located on the top of the iconic Dubai Opera, the contemporary brasserie adds a dash of fancy to your afternoon meal. Priced at AED135, the business lunch includes a starter, main and a side dish. Our advice is to begin with a refreshing watermelon and feta salad or sashimi fish salad before diving into a main of meat balls glazed with tomato sauce or soft shell crab sandwiches or the fish of the day which is great when paired with a side of charred broccoli or a garden salad.

QWERTY
Media One’s gastro bar QWERTY offers great value for a proper lunch time feed. For AED89, you’ll be served a two-course meal (starter and main) as well as a hot beverage. Add in AED19 and you can have a dessert to make it a tad bit more indulgent.

BB Social Dining
Brainchild of Alex Stumpf (the head chef behind one of our favoruite Mexican spots, Peyote), this new DIFC haunt takes a homegrown approach to Middle and Far Eastern cuisine. The lunch menu is a pick and choose affair at AED80 for two dishes or AED100 for three. Featured dishes include beef skewers, Kung Fu wings and spicy beef tartare. Other options include baos – sliced beef, chicken, soft shell crab – as well as bowls of ramen, pho or grill.
