REVIEW: Gaucho



There’s a large majority of people reading this that have already sampled the meaty delights at one of Dubai’s premier steakhouses. Famed for its famous choice cuts, extravagant interiors and, more recently, its renovated terrace area that’s perfect for a cool evening beverage under the stars, Gaucho is the carnivore’s choice of meatery. But what you might not know is that they have a new weekly event that takes place every Monday.

We headed to the special “Meat Me Mondays” to see what this latest menu is all about. After taking in the aforementioned terrace area pre-meal, we’re shown to our table inside the luxurious restaurant.

As is the way at Gaucho, our waiter appears to show us the cuts of meat, and this is where things get interesting. Rather than pick one slab of beef, the set menu offers four separate steaks to tuck into. Yes, four. It’s a great way to sample a variety of Gaucho cuts and, almost unbelievably, each succulent portion is of a generous size. Lomo (fillet), Ancho (rib-eye), Chorizo (sirloin) and Cuadril (rump) are served with moreish marinades like an excellent Chimichurri, sauces (béarnaise, peppercorn and the like), Humita Salteña (sweetcorn and mozzarella mix) and a helping of fries and salad. The melt in your mouth beef will live long in our memories. In fact, we’ve broke off from writing about how good it all is a number of times to tell anyone that will listen just how immense the whole Meat Me Monday concept is.
