REVIEW: Brunchology at Yalumba
Walking into a lively restaurant we quickly realise that we’re here to celebrate Bastille Day, the national day of France. Decked out in flag colours, full of balloons, hats and party props, with music already in full swing, we settle at our table. Don’t be surprised to turn up to this brunch finding that a theme has been set for the day’s festivities.
Yalumba serves up a selection of international food at stations of salad, cheese, seafood, dim sum, roasted meats and dessert.
We head straight to the beef wellington, filling our plate. A generous helping of warm, soft, gooey Camembert finds its way onto our selection too. After all, it wouldn’t be brunch if you didn’t have a few odd combinations (adds chocolate buttons and jelly beans).
Oysters are displayed in ice and sushi boats, hot marinated prawns and dim sum can be found at the seafood station, while dairy lovers will find a variety of soft and hard cheeses, both mild and strong, with crackers, chutneys and dried fruits to accompany them.
Eggs benedict, dynamite shrimp and roasted lamb can be ordered to the table from a small menu if you fancy something cooked to order (the shrimp is our favourite, crisp with a slight heat in the sauce). Delicious.
Musicians walk the dining room, while jelly and frozen treats come round on huge trays for everyone to enjoy. A fun brunch with an impressive selection of good food.
