REVIEW: Vrunch at Tribeca
When it comes to brunching, Dubai likes to ensure it caters to all tastes. Hence why Tribeca – based in the Ocean View Hotel – has launched Vrunch, the vegetarian and vegan option alongside the popular Big Apple Brunch. We swing by, slightly late, admittedly, for some meat-free dining, and finding seats proves a challenge. Vegetables have never been so in-demand.
The green-fonted menu – forever the indictor that vegetarians need not worry – lists all the usual go-to favourites with their own veggie spin.
We dive in with the vegan nachos to start, impressed with the convincing dairy-free sour cream. Although the colossal portion of guac-drenched chips could’ve filled us up for hours, we were smart enough to save room for the main event.
Sticking with the theme, the aptly named Vurger, which consists of a freshly made black bean and carrot patty, dulse seaweed bacon and egg-free mayo isn’t like all the other basic bean burgers out there, promise. As the fellow brunchers moved from the dinner table to dance floor, we polish off our meal with a plant-based pudding in the form of a banana and pecan brownie, and the sticky sweet treat hit the spot.
Whether you’ve had a long week or late Thursday night, you can renergise with the drinks menu that has all we need for a quick vitamin boost. From a cleansing cucumber, lemon, apple, ginger and mint mix to a digestion-friendly concoction of chai seeds, blueberry, pineapple, strawberry, spinach and aloe vera.
Yes, this is a clear conscience brunch that health-addicts can brag about, but bring meat-devoted friend and they can still order a feast from the menu, too. Everyone’s a winner.
