Despite a rather embarrassing entry from a side bush, we are settled outside in The Square watching the crowds arrive. One Brunch starts at 2pm, we’ve had a lie-in, the weather is perfect and the DJ is pumping out chilled beats for this leisurely brunch.

Lima, Toro & Ko and Galvin Bistro & Bar have joined forces to create a unique tasting experience of French, Peruvian and Spanish cuisine. Two starters will come to your table from each restaurant, followed by one main and dessert from the trio. A total of 12 dishes. It’s a lot of food, but the concept is sharing, so we’re in this together.

Starters arrive from Lima: ceviche and squid and mini Peruvian flank steak sandwiches. Crunchy pieces of onion and corn compliment the citrusy soft sea bass; a light and delicious dish. Toro is up next with cubes of watermelon and a platter of cold meats and cheeses. The former has been soaked in a sharp fruit juice and is extra refreshing for it.

Galvin Bistro & Bar ends our starters with marinated prawns with mango salsa and mushroom and truffle arancini. The creamy and rich bite-sized risotto balls are ridiculously addictive. If there wasn’t so much more to come, we’d order a second round.

After a welcome break and a spot of people watching, our mains start to arrive. Lima dishes up a grilled baby chicken served with marinated chillies, potato puree and coriander, giving it an intense flavour.  A generous serving of squid ink paella arrives from Toro & Ko. Our favourite dish on the menu (in par with our arancini balls), is the beef bourguignon from Galvin; slow braised ribs are cooked in a hermitage jus, on top of buttery potato puree. The dish is small but the flavours are amazing, the beef simply melts on the tongue.

A delightful brunch to be enjoyed on a lazy Friday afternoon with friends, indulging in quality food from three equally great eateries.
