REVIEW: Meydan hotel brunch

It’s no exaggeration to say that The Meydan Hotel Brunch is not to be missed. Sure, the phrase is bandied around with wild abandon these days, but a trip to the palatial venue that overlooks the stunning race course really does deserve your attention. While the base for feast is at the hotel’s Farriers restaurant, the offering is so vast that it spills out into the lobby area and courtyard area of the The Meydan. Fresh seafood? You got it. A mind-boggling selection of hot and cold mezze? Sure. Want a steak or burger cooked to your specific to your taste? Yep, you can get that, too. It’s also worth mentioning that this is a true family brunch. While some brunches consider a colouring book and some crayons as qualifying for family-friendly status, this one actually has a supervised play area and mini-buffet zone just for the little ‘uns. We kick off by heading to the juice bar. Healthy and delicious drinks are served up to give you an energy boost before, you know, you get stuck into all the carbs and cheeses. It’s onto the Asian food section next with a delicately crafted selection (veggie, seafood and chicken) of dim sum. These perfectly packaged delights are worth a revisit at different points throughout the brunch. It’s not long before the grilled meats are pulling us by the nostrils outside to sample the charred lamb and chicken. Coupled with the fresh salad options, this is a combo that’s hard to beat. We try as much as we can from the vast array and the thing that shines throughout is the attention to detail and love in each item that’s dished up. With the attentive staff on hand to make sure the free-flowing beverages are never too far away, an epic race course backdrop and a huge selection of food on offer, The Meydan Hotel Brunch is not to be missed. Seriously.

Don’t miss
Pretty much anything cooked in the hi-tech, super-expensive jospers (three of them, to be exact) is a treat. We just about managed to save enough room for one of the burgers on our visit. The juicy cut of meat retained its size, rather than shrivel down to nothing and tasted fantastic as a result. Give it a go.
