Lebanese bakery in Dubai launches truffle manakish
Just when you though it couldn’t get more UAE than the Pope arriving in a G-Wagen, one among Dubai’s legion of brilliant Lebanese bakeries has taken things to the next level.
Introducing Something Baked’s new truffle mushroom manakish.
Featuring an oven-baked flatbread smothered with black truffle oil, sautéed fresh white mushrooms, Emmenthal and Parmesan cheeses, the bakery chain’s latest gourmet offering is a far cry from the humble, zaatar-sprinkled origins of the regional breakfast favourite.
Priced at AED29 (and available for delivery on Talabat and Deliveroo, if you find yourself salivating while reading this), it’s part of a gourmet manakish menu that also features a goat’s cheese and roasted red pepper edition (AED25) and a turkey, brie, and caramelised onion number (AED28).
The regular menu features classics including zaatar versions for AED9, spinach or muhammara for AED10, and akkawi cheese (oh, the oozy awesome) for AED16.
You can also try traditional flavours such as kishik – dried yoghurt with finely chopped tomatoes and onion – for AED16, spicy soujouk sausage (also AED16) or the particularly breakfast-friendly Levantine, a medley of akkawi cheese, egg, parsley and black sesame for a belly filling, budget appeasing AED18.
So, what’s for lunch? (As if we even need to ask.)
