Finally, some sun on a Friday. Dubai has been full of grey skies and rain, so we are excited to try the new poolside brunch at Wet Deck. Fully prepared in swimwear and soaked in factor 50, (pasty and ginger), we are ready to get our sun on. The venue, bigger than we expected, is absolutely packed and it seems like everyone is desperate for this weather as we follow our host to the garden area of the venue to try and find a spare sunbed.

Some advice: arrive a little early, even if you have to wait in a queue outside the venue as it will be worth it. We’re shown to two sunbeds which are separated, one containing towels, one without and slightly wet. It’s a first come, first served experience at Wet Deck and admittedly we arrive around 30 minutes late. Lesson learnt.

Chilled music is blaring through the speakers from resident DJ Shef Codes as we go for a wander. Different drinks are available from various bars dotted around the venue and although you should be prepared to queue a little, rest assured, once at the bar ordering more than one drink per person is allowed. A surprisingly exciting food selection awaits hungry sun seekers; big fresh salads, a guacamole section, (obvs an essential), sushi, and lots of grilled and roasted meats. The caramelised fruit goes down a treat in the hot sun, very refreshing.

Back at the sunbeds and munching down on tacos with a plate full of guacamole, (we literally had to take the serving spoon away from the chef as his portions were just not up to scratch), we start to enjoy the relaxed vibes looking out over The Palm. Disappointed, however, that we are so far from the pool, unable to just dip in and out.

Don’t miss
Get to the venue early for the best sunbeds to try and get nearer to all of the poolside action.Keep hydrated and healthy with the fresh selection of fruits and salads on offer at the food station, too. Staff do bring round fruity ice poles towards the end, grab one.
