Three restaurants to try this week in Dubai
Burger & Lobster
We’re already planning our next visit to Burger & Lobster thanks to its new menu. Here’s a taste of the menu in our review below.
It’s simple: burgers, lobsters and rolls. Crispy deep fried parcels of juicy meat, stuffed with melted cheddar cheese and served with their signature burger sauce start us off.
Insanely good, and definitely deserved after 30 minutes of intense lunges and burpees. For mains we order two lobster rolls and a burger. First, the rolls. The Seven Samurai has big chunks of fresh lobster meat tossed in Asian spices with a light mayonnaise, the bun is slightly toasted, in what we imagine is a big pan of full fat butter. Slightly spicy, and surprisingly light, we’re not sure what to expect with the combination of cold lobster and hot roll, but it works. The truffle has the perfect balance, not overpowering the delicate meat, which has a lemon and mustard sauce combining the mixture. Both equally delicious.

Certain restaurants just exude style and sophistication. Located at the Mandarin Oriental, on Jumeirah Beach Road, The Bay is one of those that fits this particular mould.
The Bay bills itself as serving up a “wide choice of international dishes,” and one quick glance at a varied and exciting menu, including a fine selection of fish dishes, pastas, meats and pizzas, backs up its claim. If you can’t find something you like the look of here, there’s no hope for you. The reality, if you’re anything like us, is that you will be attracted to so many items on the menu you will struggle to choose. A nice problem to have in any restaurant, let’s be honest.

When a booming mariachi band merrily comes in to serenade diners while they’re feasting on everything from crispy tacos to steaming quesadillas, you know you’re in for a proper Mexican experience. The word “authentic” can be thrown around a lot, but Puerto 99 rightfully takes the label with ease, and the faster you get down here, the sooner you’ll see why.
Taking up one of the best spots on Bluewaters Dubai , the new Mexican restaurant has serene views of the JBR skyline, which can be seen nearly anywhere in the venue – from its interiors to its outside terrace – thanks to its open air set up. That’s about the only thing that will ground you in Dubai, as the rest of it is full-blown Mexican.
