7 upscale shisha spots in Dubai

Published

on

Shisha can be a very personal experience; a favourite spot can be a blend of friendliness, familiarity and flavour, and can take a good number of months for a shisha aficionado new to Dubai to find. The places listed here are about the experience: sitting in an upscale location where the combination of comfort and environment are unparalleled.

The Rooftop
The Rooftop is an Arabian-themed lounge with soft surroundings and a view that looks out over the Gulf. A range of cocktails are offered for you alongside your shisha, with quiet music playing in the background. The high level space makes it ideal for sunset sessions.

Wavebreaker
With its laidback terrace overlooking the Arabian Gulf, Wavebreaker is a casual setting from which to enjoy afternoon drinks, or a relaxed lunch with friends. The spot can get busy when the DJ is on, but a large location right next to the beach always affords an unhurried air. The food offering is diverse, from seafood and grills to Arabic favourites as well as a charcoal BBQ.

Shimmers
Other than the taxi queue on a Thursday night, there’s very little Madinat Jumeirah gets wrong, so there’s a level of confidence that comes with strolling into Mina Salam and ordering anything – from a burger to a cocktail. At Shimmers, there’s also one of the best views in the city to go with your shisha of choice, with the decked terrace overlooking the beach and the Burj Al Arab. Highly recommended.

Almaz by Momo
This is the latest UAE outlet for the London-based chain of Moroccan-themed restaurants and cafes and, unlike its forebearer in the Mall of the Emirates, has a large outdoor terrace, wide ocean views and sea breezes to accompany your chosen shisha. There’s also some excellent food on offer, such as pastilla and chicken liver in pomegranate sauce alongside couscous and tagine.

7 Elephants
The chic DIFC haunt is perfect for those looking to grab a quality bite to eat – the venue is known for specialising in not one but seven international cuisines; Italy, Mexico, Spain, India, Bali, Britain and the Middle East – whilst unwinding over some drinks and shisha. The uninterrupted views of Downtown Dubai aren’t bad either.

Sunken Garden
As the name suggests, the Sunken Garden offers its guests a calm, quiet hub in which to enjoy their hubbly flavour of choice. Aside from having 30 shisha flavours to choose from (the mango tango is great for those looking to try something different), the venue is also home to a number of great hot and cold light bites (the beef short rib cromesquis is a must) as well as a number of thirst quenching mixes and blends.

Treehouse
Treehouse’s chic all white interiors, stunning views of Downtown Dubai and always buzzing ambiance makes for a great date night location or trendy hangout spot with friends. DJ Taylor will have you involuntarily swaying while the venue’s “MediterrAsian” dishes will keep your hunger at bay. Be sure to book or get there early because it gets pretty busy after 9pm.
