4 restaurants to try at Taj Dubai

If you’ve been to Taj Dubai on Burj Khalifa Boulevard, you’ll know that it’s packed with dining options. Having only opened earlier this year, the likes of Bombay Brasserie and The Eloquent Elephant have already made a name for themselves in Dubai – no easy task in a city overflowing with options. We ate our way around the hotel (you’re welcome), to bring you a round-up of favourites…

Bombay Brasserie
Our Editor hasn’t stopped talking about Bombay Brasserie since eating there shortly after Taj Dubai opened. Now one of the team’s favourite Indian restaurants in Dubai, this place is worth the hype. Blending traditional cooking techniques and contemporary flavours, you can expect a fine-dining experience with an authentic touch. The menu is categorised by cooking methods such as Lagan (braising in a cooking pot) and Dum (cooking in a sealed pot). And the cocktails are exceptional.

Byzantium Lounge
This art-deco style lounge is adorned in black and gold, with impressive lighting fixtures that reflect the grandeur of a bygone era. With lavish surroundings and a panoramic view of Downtown Dubai, it’s the ideal spot for afternoon tea. We recommend the signature Taj Tea, which is served with sandwiches, salads, petit fours and cocktails after 5pm. ‘Byzantium’ is the name for a dark rich purple which was traditionally used by royal families… And the shoe certainly fits.

The Eloquent Elephant
A cosy bar complete with rustic Victorian-style furnishings, low lighting and a fantastic gastro pub menu. It’s the ideal place for relaxed quality, and the décor has little quirks – the walls are decorated with glass bell jars with lights inside, the floor is aged timber and there are brass finishings everywhere. As for the food, expect the likes of braised beef cheeks with truffle mash, and speciality sharing platters. Those who like their hops won’t be disappointed, with a huge range to choose from.

Peruvian food is the hottest trend in fine-dining right now and, riding the wave of its popularity, Tesoro offers South American classics. The a la carte menu includes the likes of ceviche and anticuchos, as well as their signature spicy chicken dish, pollo brassa. Don’t leave without checking out the garden deck terrace, which has views of the Burj Khalifa and a sunken garden lounge area by the pool.
