REVIEW: Brunch en Blanc at Pierchic



There aren’t, in our opinion, many better locations for a restaurant in the UAE than Pierchic. Reached by a long wooden jetty, striding across the beach in front of the Al Qasr Hotel in Madinat Jumeirah, Pierchic offers stunning “over-the-water” dining, with incredible, uninterrupted views from every table – and the added appeal of sea breezes floating through the large windows.

There are now several new reasons to revisit this Dubai favourite. Following a re-design in 2014, the restaurant now boasts a new al fresco dining experience via two “pod” extensions along the pier. Named after the restaurant, Pierchic Lounge and Pierchic Bar offer a standalone bar and cocktail menu crafted by the in-house mixologists; perfect for sunset pre-dinner drinks and a serene location to soak up the iconic view.

Best of all, though, the restaurant has also relaunched its popular Friday brunch under the name Brunch en Blanc, which represents a reimagining of the package. This season, the Friday brunch offers showcases a selection of exquisite seafood dishes as guests are encouraged to dress with a touch of white for a truly chic affair.

Crafted by Head Chef Rosalind Parsk, the brunch menu’s tour de force is the internationally sourced Seafood Platter. This decadent offering features fresh lobster caught off the coast of Oman, Norwegian prawns, and delicious smoked salmon from the Severn and Wye Valley in the UK as well as fresh clams and mussels from New Zealand.

Guests can start the brunch with a light Tagliatelle; smoked grilled prawns infused with rosemary and tomato ragout, and a chestnut and whipped cream Lobster Bisque. For the main dishes diners have a choice between two sharing platters: an Aged Angus Chateaux Briand, a succulent roast beef carved at the table that arrives in beautifully simple pink shards, or the freshly caught Fish of the Day, which is baked to perfection and filleted tableside. Both are served with seasonal vegetables, such as bok choi, and potatoes.

The grand finale is the baked Alaska, a meringue dessert served with stewed and sticky, sweet and aromatic flambé plums.

Taken with the stellar sunshine and perfect late-20s temperatures of Dubai in winter, Brunch en Blanc offers a serene ambiance that enables Friday afternoon to drift seamlessly into evening, especially whilst sipping a selection of five innovative concoctions, masterfully created by Pierchic’s in-house mixologists. Diners can also indulge in house grape, hops and bubbly beverages as part of the package.
