Claw BBQ’s Rock Star Brunch
The perfect place to hang out with close friends for seafood, songs, oversized drinks and crab-cracking tools in an upbeat setting. Resident DJ Graham plays rock and disco hits – and he panders to the power of the crowd, so you can use your Claw paddle to let him know if his beats are a hit or miss. Here, you can feast on as many American-style buffalo hot wings, crab cakes and BBQ ribs as you like. Cheers to that! Try the smoked beef brisket and the apple pie.
Where: Claw, Souk Al Bahar
When: Fridays, 12pm-4pm (afterparty until 6pm)
Price: AED229 to AED399

Saffron at Atlantis The Palm
People looking to be seen head for this strictly over-21 party at this iconic location. It’s no surprise it has become a firm favourite. The resident DJ matches the music to the mood, so things may start with 70s funk, moving on to more recent hits as things heat up. There are over 220 dishes on the buffet to choose from, but this is another one that’s maybe more about the drinks. Flit between the manned drink stations, or order a pre-soaked watermelon for the table. This is a smart casual affair, but wear something comfortable; things may get messy.
Where: West Tower, Atlantis The Palm Jumeirah
When: Fridays, 12:30pm-4pm (afterparty 4pm-9pm)
Price: AED535

CandyPants@ XL
Dubai Feel like living in a Katy Perry music video? This place is all pretty party people, tables laden with fancy dress accessories, fish bowl cocktails in vivid hues, waiters dressed as superheroes… your night may even end in a shower of confetti at the afterparty next door. Local favourite DJ Andy Swift takes care of the tunes, and watch out for the Candypants girls armed with “drink” guns and the “shot time” that’s just been introduced.
Where: Habtoor Grand Hotel, Dubai Marina
When: Fridays, 1pm-4pm Price: AED295 to AED365

Bubbalicious
Perhaps the first place you think of when the word “brunch” enters a conversation. Think Chinese acrobats, live bands and a petting zoo in the summer. The food is good, too, with a selection of 450 cheeses from around the world, while the Alice-in-Wonderland dessert alley is a sweet find. Keen to party after? Check out the Bubbalicious Late Edition (4pm to 6pm) that features drink deals at two upstairs bars. Be warned: Things can get rowdy!
Where: The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort and Marina
When: Fridays, 1pm-4pm
Price: AED450 to AED680

Okku Disco Sushi
A stylish shin-dig that is all about glow sticks, 80s and 90s hits and a Monopoly money system, which should get even the wallflowers among you in the mood for fun. This famously swanky Japanese fusion restaurant delivers on the food front, too: segue through their sophisticated set menu (that changes every week) before moving on to the retro beats. The miso black cod, the truffle rice and the wasabi ice cream are the highlights.
Where: Okku, The H Hotel, Sheikh Zayed Road
When: Fridays, 1pm-6pm Price: AED450 to AED550

China Grill TOY
Brunch A little nostalgia here. The rush of child-like delight when you see the playful drinks and dishes on offer on this eight-course set menu is more than enough reason to head here – who wouldn’t be tickled pink by bubbly that arrives in a convertible toy car, or food that comes served in a Lego car? – but the food and drink is pretty awesome too. In addition to the tasty Asian-inspired morsels and dim sum trolley, there’s dazzling décor, a DJ, a dedicated drinks handler and Burlesque dancers.
Where: The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort and Marina
When: Fridays, 1:30pm-4:30pm
Price: AED450 to AED550

Brunch Bunch
Is there such a thing as a pop-up brunch? This event appears throughout the year, celebrating those frat-party games that always seem to take place on ping-pong tables. If you’re old enough to sip, you’re old enough to play. There’s also a menu of Peruvian dishes to enjoy between games, which include “Centurion” sessions, “Kings Cup” circles and other new games each month. This smart-casual gathering is great for having a laugh (and learning which of your friends are secretly seriously competitive).
Where: Story Rooftop Lounge, Dubai Media City
When: Bi-monthly, Fridays 12.30pm-4.30pm
Price: AED299
