Peppermill is beautifully designed both inside and out, with large private alcoves designed with Indian heritage in mind, and an outdoor terrace with fantastic views over Festival Bay.

The food is a testament to modern Indian cuisine, showing how it has evolved over the years with influences from other countries. Despite being a casual dining restaurant, the food is handsomely presented.

We started with the Tomato Shorba soup (AED24), which is poured over butter poached vegetable and raisin ratatouille and pao crisps at the table, and it tasted as good as it looked. The Fattoush Ala Indie (AED26) probably isn’t what you’d expect to find on an Indian menu, as fattoush is often associated more with Arabic cuisine, but the waiter explained that Lebanon and India both share similar cooking styles.

Aside from lighter options, the menu also a features a number of classic curries such as the Butter Chicken (AED45). We opted for Awadhi Murgh Korma (AED45), which is boneless chicken, creamy cashew nut curry, mace and green cardamom. It’s one of the heavier curries on the menu, but with a very mild creamy flavour.

If you have room for dessert, we recommend going for ‘The Sweet Shop’ (AED55), which features a selection of Peppermill’s desserts including their signature Gulab Jamun – apricot and prune confit and mandarin rabadi. Perfect for sharing and the ideal finish to an excellent meal.

Jumbo Prawn Biryani (AED75)
Fragrant basmati rice with fresh herbs, green cardamom and saffron, served with large juicy prawns.

Pondicherry Seafood Cutty (AED60)
Gulf shrimps and fish fillet with raw mango in a fresh coconut milk and madras curry sauce – delicious.
