Wheels of the week: Bentley Bentayga Mulliner Pearl of the Gulf
Appearance: UAE Heritage
This thing looks like a tank, does it have cool weapons? It doesn’t fire anything if that’s what you mean, but it does have a secure fingerprint storage system.
So the car has its own safe? Pretty much, it’s an ultra-secure box in the cabin.
Will it work if we’ve got gloves on? No, it won’t recognise your fingerprint.
That’s no good… Well, not many people wear gloves in Dubai though so we don’t anticipate it being a problem.
And only five are being made, right? Yes, each handmade with unique Mother of Pearl and Arabian Gulf-themed motif interior.
What else is going on inside? The limited edition boasts camel stitching, quilted seats and gold thread embroidery.
The Nissan Patrol is popular, could we have a picture of that inside to pay homage to Dubai’s roads? No, the motor pays homage to the region’s pearl history. Sorry. Darn. How fast is it? 0-60 kph in four seconds and on to a top speed of 301 kph.
What if six people want to buy them? Well there are a few more than six people interested but still only five will be made. It’s a limited edition.
Can’t we just spray a regular Bentayga to look like the Pearl version? Guess so, but it won’t have the bespoke interior or fingerprint technology. Plus it’ll be a messy job.
Not to worry, we’ll wear our gloves.
