Wheels of the week: Lamborghini Huracán Evo Spyder
What do you mean by “literally”?
As in, Lamborghini has created another addition to its Huracán series only months after introducing the Huracán Evo Coupe, and this time it’s a convertible.
So this Spyder is exactly the same as the rest except topless? Hm...
Well unless you think a tweaked version of the 5.2-litre V10 engine which now has 640 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque, along with improved handling thanks to a torque vectoring system means nothing is changed, then sure.
Right, gotcha. Does this new system basically mean hands-free driving?
We’re not talking automated here, but it does manage all aspects of the car’s setup and dynamic behaviour, which anticipates the driver’s needs, especially on a windy road.
Will it anticipate the driver’s need for extremely high speeds?
Put the pedal to the floor and the Spyder can go from zero to 100kph in 3.1 seconds, and keep that foot floored for it to reach a top speed of 325kph. We’re pretty sure that’s fast enough for any Speedy Gonzales.
That’s some speed, but also a lot of wind in our faces.
Seeing how all it takes is 17 seconds to open and close the Lambo’s ultra-light convertible top, it means you’ll go from cruising in sunshine to racing down highways in no time.
When can we get our hands on this open-top beast?
In Dubai? Right now, with a retail price of $247,400 (AED908,749). You can even go and customise it on www.dubai.lamborghini.
The price for greatness is a steep one.
