Wheels of the week: Koenigsegg Jesko
That’s some big shoes to fill, seeing as the Agera RS is already one of the fastest.
Well, given the fact the Swedish company’s last speedy vehicle could top 447kph, while the Jesko can reach a maximum speed of 484kph, the shoes may not be big enough.
Whew, that’s some speed. Does it really need to be called “megacar”?
That’s what Koenigsegg calls it. But it also boasts a 5.0 litre twin-turbo V8 capable of making 1,280 horsepower on standard gas and 1,106 pound-feet of torque. That’s also probably why.
Anything to control all that pure power?
How about an ultra-fast-shifting nine-speed transmission for quick shifts and maximum acceleration, along with dynamic rear steering for fast cornering, better manoeuvrability and more grip?
Oh no, it’s going to be pricey, isn’t it?
Erm, yes. $2.8 million (AED10.2 million) to be frank. To add to that though, Koenigsegg will only build 125 Jesko’s split into two models – one just for the track and another that’s more road-friendly.
There’s got to be more to it than just speed, right?
Yes, of course. Expect a five-inch display mounted behind the steering wheel and a nine-inch mounted in the dashboard, inductive phone charging, bluetooth connectivity, automated climate control and electrically adjustable mirrors – you name it.
What a swanky vehicle. If only we knew how to properly pronounce its name...
