Wheels of the week: Jaguar F-Type Coupe

Admittedly, the name doesn’t give much away – what’s the deal on this new ride?
There’s a lot more to the F-Type Coupe than might initially be expected. Agility, speed and style? It’s got it in buckets, mate. While Jaguar certainly has a lot of competitors on the market this year, we’d say they’ve done a stellar job with this particular car.

So it’s a bit of a beauty, then, but we’re guessing that’s not all?
It most definitely isn’t. In fact, the sleek, muscular body of this car is only the cherry on the cake. There’s a whole lot of goodness underneath, whether you go for the (slightly) more budget-friendly 296bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine or the beastly 5.0-litre, supercharged V8 that generates a whopping 567bhp. That’ll help you make a thundering entrance, we assure you, and you’ll get there in no time – the most advanced spec of the F-Type offers a top speed of 275kph, and can race from 0-100kph in just 4.1 seconds.

Right, so it’s satisfyingly powerful, anything else that will sway us?
If you want your tech fix, try three different driving programmes on for size, providing maximum ease and comfort in regular, slippery and more difficult ‘dynamic’ conditions. The car is also equipped with a sat-nav, Bluetooth capability, a DAB radio, and a 380-watt Meridian sound system. If you’re particularly into your music – or you just want some tunes to rival that delightful engine roar – then you can upgrade to an even crisper, 770W surround-system.  And if you’re more concerned with aesthetics, then, well, just look at the thing. It’s magnificent.

So the F-Type is just an impressive addition to the other impressive sports cars right now.
Hang on, we’ll stop you there – let’s have a think. While the exquisite exterior of this ride does land it firmly in Insta-worthy sports car territory (you can find us posing on the bonnet, obvs), its electrifying engine also gives it supercar status. You could say it straddles the two perfectly, giving you power that delivers, alongside all of its Insta-worthiness.

Well, we’re drooling. What’s this bad boy going to cost?
Prices start from AED235,000.

Ah. Maybe one day (but probably not right now).
