FIRST LOOK: Pharrell vs Adidas Superstar... Pt2
We loved the Adidas Supercolor. In fact, we still wear our Shortlist-turquoise-coloured pair, which debuuted only last April, regularly. So, it's hardly surprising that we learned of Pharrell's latest collaboration with sportswear's coolest brand with all the expectation of a Labrador puppy at dinner time – especially as he has returned to the classic shell-toed Superstar.
For FW15, he has hand-picked creatives from to reinvent the shoe, evolving the Superstar into what the company calls "a canvas for creation". The Supershell Artwork Collection includes designs by NYC contemporary artist Todd James, American photographer Cass Bird and contemporary Japanese artist mr. Pharrell himself has contributed six artworks of his own, each exploring "life force and energy and its relationship with colour". Wow.
The footwear is offered in black and white colourways, allowing the vibrant artworks to take centre stage. Adding an additional layer to the concept: each left and right shoe features a different graphic treatment.
These will be available in the UAE at Adidas Originals stores from September.
