So the unthinkable happened: England have won a penalty-shoot out, triumphing after a nerve-shredding 120 minutes against Colombia.

They’re now into the quarter-finals for the first time since 2006.

So when and how will England take their next steps to World Cup glory?

After England’s triumph on penalties (let’s just say that one more time, penalties), they will face off against Group F winners Sweden, who should not be underestimated, having qualified for the finals at the expense of Italy, and having won a group containing Germany and Mexico, before they beat Switzerland 1-0 in the second round.

Who will England play in the semi-final of the World Cup 2018?

After Sunday’s dramatic twin penalty shoot-outs, England will face either Group A runners-up - and conquerors of Spain - Russia, or Group D winners Croatia, who overcame Denmark.
