UAE bidding to host the FIFA U20 World Cup 2021
We know the UAE is a football-loving nation and before long it's bound to host a major tournament.
Well, the first one could be the 2021 FIFA U20 World Cup, as the UAE football federation is planning on submitting a joint bid to host it alongside Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
The deadline to submit a bid is August 30, with a decision due by the end of the year.
The GCC neighbours have already submitted an expression of interest to FIFA, alongside seven other associations.
The rival bids will be submitted by the Brazilian Football Association, the Football Association of Indonesia, the Peruvian Football Association and a joint bid by the Myanmar Football Federation and The Football Association of Thailand.
In the past, the UAE has successfully held the 2003 FIFA Youth World Championship, the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup and the Club World Cup on four occasions. In January, it also held the biggest ever AFC Asian Cup, with 24 teams taking part.
The 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup kicked off in Poland on Thursday and will run until June 15.
