Golf in Dubai: Trump International Golf Club
While the name attached to this golf course might not be to everyone’s taste, the club itself in the 42 million sq ft Damac Hills community carries a much higher approval rating. It was completed in 2016 following its design by course architect Gil Hanse, and while some of the landscaping makes evident its relative youth, it already looks stunning, with perfectly manicured greens, plush fairways and beautiful blue lakes. It boasts Dubai’s largest clubhouse at 30,000 sq ft, with levels of luxury that match its size, and white-gloved staff who are desperate to please. It may not be among Dubai’s most well-established courses, but it’s already one of the
The 7,300-yard, par-71 course is a tough prospect for players of all levels, though less experienced golfers won’t be punished by too many cruel hazards. Built following the blueprint of a classic links course, it features lots of water set around wide, undulating fairways leading to tough greens guarded by steep bunkers. The club also has a nine-hole par-3 academy course for those looking to refine their skills.
Facilities and activities
The huge clubhouse overlooking the ninth and 18th greens has a well-furnished fitness centre with regular classes. The club has a long infinity swimming pool overlooking the 18th green, plus a golf academy, pro shop (with Trump-branded merchandise), driving range, chipping facility and putting greens.
The 19th and beyond
The club features a popular new refreshment spot. Stoke House Dining, Bar & Terrace, from the team behind Reform Social & Grill, replaced The Terrace after a revamp. Its menu includes classic fare such as steaks, burgers, and great
pizzas straight from the restaurant’s prominent oven.
